Wildlife is wild-life and our schedule is flexible to be in the right place for the magic of Alaska.

We watch, look, listen, pause – and find amazing things happen. We have come to expect the unexpected and know that in a quiet space we witness extraordinary behavior and interactions:

Humpbacks Whales - Humpbacks migrate here in the summer to feed. They use a wide variety of feeding behaviors to capture krill and plankton in the nutrient rich waters.

Orca Whales - Members of the “resident” pods hunt for salmon while “transients” hunt for seals and sea lions

Bears - Brown and black bears are omnivores – they scrounge the shoreline in the spring and feed along salmon streams in the late summer

Glaciers - S.E. Alaska is home to the southern most tidewater glacier where the ice meets the sea and huge chunks “calve” into the water.

Sea Lions - This area has important haul out areas for local populations Males can reach 1500 pounds.
